Take the first step to lower your risk

In taking the first step towards feeling healthier and happier, here are some tips to help reduce how often you gamble

Set a limit:

  • If you think you might spend more than you want, ask a friend to call you at a set time or arrange to meet with someone away from a venue
  • Take the exact amount in cash that you’re prepared to lose – leave your cards at home
  • Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to take a break or stop

Take a break from enticements:

  • Be present and enjoy the sports match rather than place a bet at the same time
  • Use blocking software such as Gamban, GamBlock and BetBlocker. Please note that there may be fees for some of these software options. Gambler’s Help does not endorse or receive payment from any of these providers. We encourage you to do your own research to see if this is the right product for you.
