I started playing slots in 2014 after someone I worked with told me how many jackpots she had hit. That year I paid taxes on $40,000 worth of winnings. The biggest jackpot was $9,600. I bought a new dirt bike the day after.
Over the next few years, I went to Choctaw weekly and the majority of the time I was chasing money I had lost; plenty of times I went twice in one day (from Dallas to Oklahoma). A few days ago I had an incredible winning streak and made it home with $13,000 of profit. The next day I went and gave it all back to the slots.
I’m realising how much time I've spent being alone recklessly spinning slot machines. I have a callus on my finger from holding down the spin button. The winning was fun but after this recent loss it's clear it's something I can't control, and a wise man once said the Lord will only give you what you can handle.
So I want this to be the end of playing slots on a regular basis without setting a limit. I may never go back; and to think that that chapter of my life is over puts me at ease.
I’m 30 and don't have a wife or kids thankfully, otherwise I'd go insane. Don't get hooked.
